Stillwaggin’ Dog Park is a big success after its opening in May of 2012.
The park had more than a dozen canine visitors Sunday evening between 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening.
According to Jordan Zimberlman there are usually twice as many dogs at the park on Sunday evenings.
There are plenty of reasons to bring your dog to Stillwater’s first dog park.
“I can bring him here, and he can run around,” said Peter Kublick, owner of a yellow Labrador. “He’s not going to run around otherwise. My dog is just too big. He doesn’t really run around unless he has other dogs to run with.”
“They get some socialization skills with some of the other dogs out here,” said Debbie Hamble, owner of two Border Collies and a Geiser Sheltie. “That’s really valuable.”
The owners interviewed expressed a desire for more lighting.
“We would like to see some lights out here,” said Hamble. “It just gets too dark too quick to stay out too late.”
One light has been added since the park opened in May. There have been no announcements about any more lighting at this time.
So far the park has been a hit with dogs and owners alike.
“Everyone pretty much gets along,” said Rebecca Hahn, owner of an energized wiener dog.
