Stillwagging’ Park, Stillwater, Oklahoma’s first dog park, is still a success in below zero temperatures.

According to the Stillwater News Press, the park opened in May of 2012 after Oklahoma State University, Stillwater Rotary and the City of Stillwater joined to complete the project.

According to the Daily O’Collegian, the dog park had received funding and planned on putting in fountains for visitors.

This improvement has been made and was being used by owners and canines alike at the park.

According to the Daily O’Collegian, one of the purposes of the park was to give college students an area other than campus to take dogs to, to play and run off leashes.

“I think that it’s good since a lot of the students have dogs and live in apartments,” said Mark Zoellner, Oklahoma State University students and dog owner. “There is just not room to run and play. This facilitates that nicely.”

Oklahoma State University’s plan seems to be working well since student and community members are using the facilities frequently.

“We come out here about every other day,” said Katie Seale, Oklahoma State University Student and dog owner.

Dog owner would still like to see more lights put in at the park, but overall they are happy for the chance to get out and meet other owners and their dogs.
