A college degree is not a guarantee of a job, especially not a job in your field.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 3.9 percent of college graduate 25 years or older are unemployed.

The number of unemployed college graduate changes significantly for those under 25.

According to Politics 365, 53.6 percent of college graduate under the age of 25 are unemployed or under employed.

“I have been looking,” said Jason Davenport, recent PhD graduate. “I only recently figured out what kind of job I want.”

“In the mean time I’ve been looking for just for, really just for anything,” said Davenport. “I’m actually considering applying for a job at the bank I used to work at because its literally like four miles away from my parents house.”

Davenport moved in with his parents after graduation to save money and have some freedom to find the job he wanted.

According to the a PEW Report, ”Boomer Generation,” 53 percent of people between 18-24 move back in with their parents for a time. Of those living at home between 25-29, 41 percent say it was because of the economy.
