Facebook’s latest update to groups will tell you if your time is worth it.

The update, which was released July 11, -will release the information of who views what post. This is another feature Facebook provides that is a measurable tool and tactic for communication.

According to Facebook, this new feature was developed to allow visitors and group administrators to “stay updated on the group’s activity.”

Groups allowed for communication in multiple formats. According to Facebook, “group members can participate in chats, upload photos to shared albums, collaborate on group docs and invit[ing] members who are friends to group events.” Before the update, however, group members did not know if their information was reaching everyone in the group.

Are your employees receiving your internal communications?

“The biggest opportunity for businesses in Groups is facilitation of communication and community inside the company,” said Samuel Axon on the American Express OPEN Forum.

Viewing a list of recipients of a company’s communications is a valuable part of internal communication. Giving a company a window on who is viewing their massages can help determine the value of a Facebook group. Imagine being able to see whether more people get the company news letter through email or a Facebook post. Maybe both formats get attention, but now a company can prove different mediums are reaching different groups, making it worth the time to pursue both avenues of communication.

Are your customers receiving your messages?

“Groups are oldest and simplest way to build community around your brand or company on Facebook,” said Justin Smith of Inside Facebook.

A Company can see who has viewed its latest commercial and directly ask a customer their opinion. Direct, two-way communication with your audience will create brand loyalty and allow you to test campaigns on small markets. This free feedback can be invaluable to a company with a small budget.
